The statement, “a healthy nation is a wealthy nation,” is globally accepted as a truth. The NPP believes that health is wealth, and that without health, wealth loses its prominence. As a Government, we plan to increase investments into the health sector, and make healthcare more affordable to all. To maintain a healthy population, the incidence of disease will be tackled through vigorous
preventative measures, timely medical attention, construction of ultramodern hospitals and provision of up-to-date equipment and adequate medical supplies. More attention will be focused on mothers and children, and support will be provided to help seniors stay active and engaged. In this regard, we plan to increase health care spending, and build more general hospitals, community hospitals and day-care centres. In summary, we plan to:
- Substantially increase health care spending;
- Build more general hospitals, community hospitals and day-care centres; and,
- Provide greater retirement assurance through better pension schemes to help seniors stay active and engaged.
- Continually review health policies and plans to update as required.
- An NPP Government will do all these because we care for you, and we are determined to improve the lives of all Gambians.
